Time series analysis of the Caspian Sea shoreline in response to sea level fluctuation using remotely sensed data

چکیده

The Caspian Sea (CS), biggest inland water worldwide has experienced around 3 m oscillation in sea level during the 20th century. These rapid fluctuations have had a great impact on coastal habitat this sea. Therefore, study is aimed to investigate long-term changes of western part shoreline and Anzali lagoon their dynamic responses fluctuation using time series analysis remotely sensed data over 40-years. To end, area perimeter Lagoon were extracted from Landsat satellite imagery (1975 till 2016) by an automatic procedure including combination Tasseled-Cap texture filter methods. Afterwards, erosion/accretion rates evaluated Net Shoreline Movement (NSM) End Point Rate (EPR) techniques. Finally, CS, through multiple altimetry relationship between relative CS studied. Results positions period (1975–2016) indicate that whole subjected accretion erosion 20.37 -19.22 (m/year) respectively. There balance EPR all transects periods 1975 2016. This shows when happens region, will be happened another behavior symmetrical. When decreased, values showed accretion/seaward vice versa. So, movement strong nonlinear response with coefficient determination −0.66. Also results show 0.78 for fluctuation. greatest lowest its 2003 1985, respectively, which are matched high low stands Level.

Spatiotemporal analysis of remotely sensed Landsat time series data for monitoring 32 years of urbanization

The world is witnessing a dramatic shift of settlement pattern from rural to urban population, particularly in developing countries. The rapid Addis Ababa urbanization reflects this global phenomenon and the subsequent socio-economic and environmental impacts, are causing massive public uproar and political instability. The objective of this study was to use remotely sensed Landsat data to iden...

Caspian Sea level fluctuation and Determination of Setback Line

In the past 25 years, rising of the Caspian Sea level, part of a natural treat to the sea, has inundated and destroyed many buildings and arable lands and threatened many inhabitations in coastal areas. The main reason for these damages is that the law-setback has lost its efficiency and human activities have proceeded seaward. The goal of this study is to introduce a proper setback line for th...

Remotely Sensed Empirical Modeling of Bathymetry in the Southeastern Caspian Sea

Remotely sensed imagery is proving to be a useful tool in estimating water depths in coastal zones. On the other hand, many coastal zone studies in the southern part of the Caspian Sea are only concerned with areas of shallow water and would benefit from easily updated bathymetric estimates. In this study, we tested three different methods for extracting bathymetry information from Landsat 5 da...

Analysis of landings and environmental variables time series from the Caspian Sea

In the present study, the time series encompassing the years 1950-2011 of commercial landings from the Caspian Sea were analyzed using min/max autocorrelation factor analysis (MAFA) and dynamic factor analysis (DFA). These aim was to identify trends and explore the relationships between the response variables (annual landings of 10 species/groups such as kilkas, kutum, common carp, pike perch, ...
